Goals

The tasks of NETS: What do we want to achieve?

The task of NETS is to support the members of the network and thus indirectly the public by:

  1. Development and marketing of tourism offers with soft mobility
  2. Support of quality tourism by concepts for traffic and tourism that aim to refrain from polluting factors as much as possible
  3. Increase of quality of living and environmental quality of the destination by reducing pollution caused by traffic. Special emphasis is given on the support of the network members by know-how exchange on the development and implementation of traffic concepts that translate soft mobility by the following measures consequently into deeds:
  • support of pedestrians and bikers
  • extension of public transport in the destination and on the journey
  • use of emission free/ low-emission vehicles
  • keeping clear of the whole city/ city centre/ recreation areas from car traffic with internal combustion engines (exemptions only in special cases)
  • public relation and marketing for soft mobility

The network addresses to tourism destinations and regions that regard soft mobility as an important factor of quality in a sustainable tourism development. Soft mobility has to be expressed in the (role) model, by certain measures and by the current offer.

  • a key word is: transnational co-operation of committed European destinations and important service partners

economic advantages

The activities of the network for environmental sound traffic solutions and softer mobility forms in tourism shall cause economic benefits/ advantages for the destinations/ partners.

  • Lobbying the topic of soft mobility as a quality criteria for a sustainable tourism development. Aim: integration of corresponding traffic measures in tourism role models and tourism policy, e.g. Alp convention field of traffic
  • Lobbying and public relation for the partners of the network and building up a "pressure group - soft mobility" ( for joint and thus facilitated safeguarding of interests against political authorities from local to EU-level, media, enterprises, etc.)
  • co-operation and know-how exchange on professional concepts and practical experience in the fields of traffic planning, logistics on journeys by railway, marketing, financing with the aim of quality improvement of the offers of soft mobility in tourism.


Marketing, Packaging and Pricing

consulting and support in drafting a concept, pre-testing and market research for new, innovative offer packages in the sense of soft mobility. Development of easy-selling tourism offers with environmental sound mobility forms.


communication (and PR)

strengthening of the contacts between suppliers and guests via tour operators and other mediator organisations and relevant protagonists. NETS itself is no sales organisation but it supports its partners in their marketing activities. Within a medium-range the development of a European supply group for car free tourism destinations is yet possible
